A Month of Big Things

The kids have both had some proud moments lately!

Owen completed his swim challenge (swimming two lengths of the pool on his own)
and graduated from Intermediate Shrimp to Advanced Shrimp.

Anna participated in her first ever swim meet. It was more of an intersquad meet, but she swam for time in real, sanctioned events. Her events were the 50 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke and 100 Freestyle. Apparently, everyone writes their events on their arms and it's super cool. She wouldn't wash this off for days.

Hard to see, but here she is starting for the backstroke in Lane 1

Anna was pretty nervous, but she did awesome. Everyone was cheering for her because she was the youngest and smallest in the pool. And she got to meet some pretty cool senior swimmers like Hannah Bach who owns the state record in breaststroke and ranks 6th in the nation. She was so nice to Anna and gave her some great pep talks!

She was also selected as "Swimmer of the Meet" and recognized in the CSI newsletter:

Owen has been playing hard in soccer lately, and recently scored his first goal...which was followed by a second and a third in the same game! This was his face after scoring :)

He has had so much fun this season

Owen and his buddy Rhys

After the last game, Owen's coach declared him the
most improved player on the team!

Anna also had her first piano "recital" (somewhat informal - at a local bar)
She was very serious and did a great job on her four songs!

Afterwards we went for celebratory ice cream

Owen was very proud of her too :)
